How to prepare, and when to expect the report
Preparation
- Fast for 10 to 12 hours before the sample; plain water is allowed, but no tea, coffee or milk. An early morning slot makes this easiest. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before.
- Take regular medicines with water unless your doctor says otherwise; diabetes medicines are usually taken after the sample, with breakfast.
- If you take thyroxine, give the sample first and take the tablet afterwards. Stop biotin supplements for 48 hours beforehand, as biotin can interfere with hormone tests.

Do I need to fast for the Essential Cardiovascular Check?

Why is troponin included in a checkup?
High-sensitivity troponin T can detect very small amounts of heart muscle protein. In people without symptoms, doctors sometimes use it as one part of a risk assessment. Any raised value should be reviewed by a doctor.
Does the package include an ECG?
No, it is blood tests only. An ECG can be done separately at the clinic; see our cardiology services.
